The following pre-operative care instructions are designed to provide essential information and guidance for a successful oral surgery experience. Adjustments may be made based on the specific requirements of the surgical procedure and the patient’s health.
Please refrain from eating or drinking for at least 8 hours before your surgery. This helps ensure a safe and smooth procedure.
Your support person must stay during the procedure, drive you home afterward, and be prepared to assist with your care.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up. Avoid tight-fitting clothes for ease of monitoring and IV placement.
Inform your surgeon about all current medications. Follow instructions regarding which medications to take or avoid on the day of surgery.
Avoid alcoholic beverages and tobacco for at least 24 hours before surgery to promote a clear, complication-free procedure.
Practice good oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing, before arriving for surgery to reduce the risk of infection.
Hydration is crucial. Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours leading up to surgery, but remember to stop at least 2 hours before the scheduled procedure time.
Ensure you understand all post-operative care instructions. Ask any questions you may have during your pre-op appointment.
Practice relaxation methods, such as deep breathing or meditation, to manage anxiety and promote a calm state of mind before the surgery.
