Lindsay Graves, DDS, MD

Dr. Graves was born and grew up in Fauquier county, Virginia, 45 minutes West of Washington, DC. She was raised on her family’s farm, where she could usually be found on the back of a horse, or with her nose in a book. For college, she attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, graduating magna cum laude from the Honors Program, and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. It was during this time that her journey to becoming a oral surgeon began: during school breaks she worked at a surgical office, starting at scrubbing instruments for sterilization, then working her way up to a full-fledged dental assistant.

When it came time for dental school, a desire to explore a different part of the country led Dr. Graves chose the prestigious University of California Los Angeles school of dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Graves completed a year of training focusing on the care of special needs populations and patients with complex medical comorbidities at Ronald Reagan Hospital in Los Angeles. Then she spent two years at the Veterans’ Affairs hospital conducting research on the detection of medical conditions using dental imaging.

Dr. Graves became a Texan in 2017 when she moved to Dallas for her oral surgery training at the renowned training program at Parkland Memorial Hospital and UT Southwestern. This rigorous program encompassed general surgery, oral & maxillofacial surgery, and anesthesia. Of note, she was only the second woman in a span of 25 years to complete this program! Due to her interest in medicine and a desire to better understand the intricacies of her patients’ medical conditions, she also completed an accelerated 2-year MD program at UT Southwestern.

Now, after 14 years of higher education, Dr. Graves has made Abilene, TX her home! Dr. Graves’ background of diverse experiences allows her to compassionately and safely care for all her patients. During her free time, she’s gone back to her roots, back in the saddle, riding and training for future competitions (dressage, eventing, and jumper). She also enjoys gardening, exploring nature, eclectic foods, and spending time at home with her husband and 2 cats.
